Beyonce is coming up with her clothing line. Well, she is rich and she does have some talent but still no. Most celebrity brands fail because most are not high quality and are likely to be fads. Even the fans cannot continue to purchase because they are financially constrained and also they become more mature. Paris Hilton’s brand was so hot and going crazy for few years and now is gone. People will not even take them if it is virtually free.

I think would be interesting to conduct a study on the determinants of celebrities launching their fashion lines and their successes. I somehow feel like that a big determinant would be narcissism and lack of financial sense. Measuring them would be challenging but finding good data and proxies are the bread and butter of empiricists so challenge accepted. I will put this on my to do list.
