Acorns has interesting posts and this one talks about how to make extra income.
Although I agree with the spirit of the article, most people will have trouble implementing suggestions. For instance data analysis, well, you’d better hope that you are quite good with stats and programming. Instagram marketing and podcasting are hard. There is immense competition, just because it has low barriers to entry, it does not mean that it is easy. I saw some YouTube videos on YouTube stars became famous and I was amazed at their zeal and creativity. So it is much much harder than one thinks.
So what are some reasonable activities that can generate extra income for you?
- Tutoring: Tutoring is the classic money maker. As long as you had decent grades and some patience, you should be able to tutor. Also, one trick to make more money is to do group tutoring. Tutor 2-3 students at once and you can make extra money. That is how my friend boosted his income. If it is more than three students then it becomes hard to give attention and the parents will not be happy.
- Officiating recreational sports: This one is doable and I have seen people do it. Just make sure you love sports and that you are fair.
- Virtual assistant: This is also a good job as long as you have internet,a phone, some excel skills, and lot of patience. Just make sure you choose your clients or else the cost of stress may be higher.
- Pet sitting: This is a real cash cow. People love their pets. Specially, in LA, wow, I think pets are treated like majesties. I see many dog sitters and they are happy to play with the dog and get paid.
- Taking online surveys. This is easy but not as lucrative but the good thing is that you can do it anywhere and even if your brain is half asleep.
