After living without pets for more than 20 years, I decided to raise two beta fishes. Given that beta fishes are very tough and can breathe their own air, I thought that I would just put the fish in the tank and that would be it. However, I realized that beta fish get very stressed if the water is dirty so I had to change the water every 7-10 days. The internet recommends not changing the whole water because the beneficial bacteria will be all wiped out and the fish may even get shocked so they suggested changing between 30-50% of the water. So as I was changing the water, I learned something about faith. Just like a beta fish getting shocked by sudden massive water change, individuals can get quite shocked when they try to live the Christian life even though the Christian way is better for them in the long run. The sudden shift may be quite painful and may actually make them for resistant to Christ. Ah..what a teaching. Of course, I knew about Paul talking about not being so harsh on people with budding faith but today, I really felt what God wants. How He wants us things to be done. There are times to be abrupt and break every bond but many times, it is a process, chiseling away our sins bit by bit. So less pushing more loving and understanding. Thank You Jesus for teaching me a lesson while changing fish water.
