People with more attachment anxiety felt more phantom vibration. Hmm…I guess that makes me a person with attachment anxiety? Not really.
First, the study is a survey so we cannot infer causality. Second, it is likely that there are many confounding variables. Those who check the phone more often may actually had experiences of missing important messages. Also, some people have really rogue phones like mine, which turns off by itself, loses wifi by itself. So I have to time to time check it and make sure that it is working! (I don’t think I have attachment anxiety…well, I’ll ask my friends haha).
Finally, the article got me thinking, is phantom vibration a serious issue? Of course, as researchers, we should study phenomenons but I just wondered whether it has significant implications such as not being able to study or do tasks properly? Anyhow, it is good to see interesting research.
